An experiment in genetic engineering turns harmless sheep into blood-thirsty killers that terrorize a sprawling New Zealand farm.Hell yes, violence of the lambs! This is filmed in the same area of the world (New Zealand) that the awesome Lord of the Rings triology as filmed in, but the similarities stop there (except it's actually the same effects company as well). Let's just say you should only watch this if you enjoy sheep jokes, but really enjoy sheep farting jokes. Otherwise I think you might miss the whole point of the film and hate it.
The strength of the comedy is just the sheer ridiculousness of it all. I mean how menacing is a f'n sheep? Add to that the excellent puppetry, animitronics and fun gross out gore and this movie is a blast. There are a lot of horror movie cliches, jokes at New Zealander's expense and just absurd goings-on throughout to keep the pace moving along. As for the actor's performances, they're acceptable, definitely not great but in no way do they detract from the film. The script and direction are more than satisfactory.
There's no reinvention of the wheel here, this just takes a really ludicrous premise and has a ridiculously bloody good time with it. Imagine Evil Dead with zombie sheep.
