Real Clash of the Titans

I have a feeling that even if you don't get the UFC 116: Carwin vs Lesnar pay-per-view this Saturday, July 3rd, you may still hear the collision between these 2 heavyweight beasts. One of the biggest promotional match-ups ever will finally come to fruition when Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin enter the Octagon to battle for the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Some of the hype they're putting out for this is awesome... such as this "Baddest Dude on the Planet" promo. Seriously, can you picture Mike Tyson at his peak stepping in the cage with either of these freaks of nature? These 2 dudes are just bad. The funniest thing is at the beginning of the video when it says "5 rounds". Um, that ain't happening.

Carwin: "When my hands touch people, they go down."

Lesnar: "I feel no threat by him whatsoever."

Me: "Let's do this."

Potter's Almost Back

While the teen-goth population rejoices at the return of the Twlight series, the trailer for the beginning of the end of the Harry Potter saga has arrived. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, Harry, Hermione and Ron set out from Hogwarts to find and destroy the Horcruxes -- the secret to Voldemort's power and immortality. It arrives just in time for Thanksgiving on November 19. Part 2 drops next Summer.

Here Comes More Of The King!

I posted a short while back about Elvis' DVDs that are out and the ones that are coming soon and presto... here's the trailer for the excellent upcoming box set (which includes the Elvis on Tour DVD):

Mudvayne's Heard It All Before

Here's the latest Mudvayne video for the song "Heard It All Before" off their latest self-titled CD. Weird video. Good tune.

Ed Kowalczyk Is Alive, Not Live

In case you don't know who this guy is, Ed Kowalczyk is best known as the former lead singer for the band Live. They had several HUGE hits in the 90s with the songs Lightning Crashes, I Alone and All Over You plus some others. He's got a new solo CD coming out called Alive and this track is the first single and video for the song Grace.

If go to this site you can get info on how to get a free download of it, or it's available on iTunes right now.

Fedor Returns!

Another great night for fight fans, starting on Showtime where Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum kicks off from San Jose with who many believe to be the greatest fighter in the world, Fedor, headlining against Werdum. Also a great rematch between Cung Le and Scott Smith and the greatest female fighter going today, Cristiane Santos, puts her belt on the line. Here's the televised card:

* Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum
* Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Jan Finney (for women's middleweight title)
* Cung Le vs. Scott Smith
* Pat Healy vs. Josh Thomson

I predict Fedor and Cyborg both to win in squashes and Cung Le to even the series with Scott Smith by knocking him out.

But that's not all! A replay of May's UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II pay-per-view event airs tonight on Spike TV. The broadcast is the latest counter-programming move for Ultimate Fighting Championship and Spike TV officials, who hope to take a dent out of Showtime's audience. Josh Koscheck vs Paul Daley and Kimbo vs Matt Mitrione are also on that card.

Tune in, beer up and suck on some A/C for a few hours. It's a great night of fights.

Piranha 3D Trailer

Piranha 3D... very rarely will 2 words go together so well in this world. Other than that why am I excited about this remake? Well, Alexandre Aja directed it for one. If you don't know who that is, he also happened to direct a few fine little films such as Haute Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (the remake) and Mirrors. Expect gore. Also Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) has a cameo and Jerry O'Connell plays a sort of "Girls Gone Wild" sleezeball, so yeah there should be lots of nudity. No rating yet, but expect a hard R. Due out August 20th.

Black River is Lucky In Hell

"Lucky In Hell", the new video from Black River can be viewed below. Their new album, "Black'n'Roll", will be released in North America on July 20th. They've got sort of a Monster Magnet/Danzig sound to them I think with some Cult mixed in for good measure.

The Green Hornet Trailer

Here's the new trailer for The Green Hornet, which is due to hit theaters Jan 14th 2011. It stars Cameron Diaz, Seth Rogen and Jay Chou and despite the fact that I had a feeling it was going to completely blow, I think this actually looks pretty fun. See for yourself...

New Ozzy Video

Here's Ozzy Osbourne's bizarre new video for the song "Let Me Hear You Scream" off his new CD, Scream, which hit stores today. I can assure you that you'll be hearing this song a lot at sports stadiums for a long while.

The Power of Blu-Ray Compels You!

Well I'm not one for double-dipping my DVDs and Blu-Rays, which means once I buy it on DVD or Blu-Ray I'm probably not going to ever upgrade to an "extended version" or "director's cut" or just go from DVD to Blu-Ray. I've only done it a few times that I can remember. But holy hell when I saw the specs for the Blu-Ray version of The Exorcist, which is one of my favorite movies of all-time, my head almost spun in circles. It's definitely a vulgar a display of power (anybody else even get that?). This baby comes with everything except Captain Howdy himself. I hope.

The version of the movie I have is the Director's Cut now, and it's the best way to watch it. Director William Friedkin said they completed about 12 minutes and added it in, the way he originally meant for the film to be and could now be done with the technical advances. You get all that and more.

Here's the specs for the 2-disc release which will hit Blu-ray on October 5, in a two-disc Digibook edition, packaged with a personal letter written by director William Friedkin inside a 40-page booklet:

Disc 1: - Extended Director's Cut (2000) plus Special Features

-Commentary by William Friedkin
-Raising Hell: Filming the Exorcist – set footage produced and photographed by Owen Roizman, camera and makeup tests, and interviews with director William Friedkin, actress Linda Blair, author/screenwriter/producer William Peter Blatty and Owen Roizman (new; Blu-ray exclusive)
-The Exorcist Locations: Georgetown Then and Now – Featuring a tour of the iconic locations where the film was shot (new; Blu-ray exclusive)
-Faces of Evil: The Different Versions of The Exorcist – with director William Friedkin and author/screenwriter/producer William Peter Blatty discussing the different versions of the film and featuring outtakes from the film (new; Blu-ray exclusive)
-Trailers, TV spots & radio spots from the film's 2000 release

Disc 2 - Theatrical Cut (1973) plus Special Features

-Introduction by William Friedkin
-Commentaries:
-William Friedkin
-William Peter Blatty with Special Sound Effects Tests
-The Fear of God: 25 Years of The Exorcist [1998 BBC documentary]
-Additional interviews with William Friedkin and William Peter Blatty:
-The Original Cut
-Stairway to Heaven
-The Final Reckoning
-Original ending
-Sketches & storyboards
-Trailers & TV spots from the 1973 version

Hot Rockin' Summer Releases

We're on the 2nd day of Summer and it's already smokin' hot here down South. I can't grab the paper in the morning off the front steps without getting sweaty. By 7:00 AM it's in the mid-70s with the humidity and heat index in the 80s. Awesome! Well, it was awesome when I was off last week and didn't have to strap a tie around my neck every day. Only 8 more weeks until my next vacation!

Summer heats up today with some excellent musical offerings though from some of my favorite artists. Plenty of blog links and a couple of videos to check out. Check out the release list:

* Ozzy Osbourne ~ "Scream" CD (see blog here)

* Vince Neil ~ "Tattoos & Tequila" CD (Motley Crue's lead singer... see blog here)

* Danzig ~ "Deth Red Sabaoth" CD (their first studio album since 2004... see blog here and see more below)

* Paul Thorn ~ "Pimps and Preachers" CD (I already got my copy and it's excellent... see blog here)

* Eminem ~ "Recovery" CD

* (hed) p.e. ~ "Major Pain 2 Indee Freedom: The Best of (hed) p.e." CD (2 CDs, 34 tracks)

* Sister Sin ~ "True Sound of the Underground" CD (see blog here)

* Green Zone DVD (Matt Damon thriller)

* Transformers: War for Cybertron (Video Game for PS3, Xbox, WII, DS)

Wooo! That's a helluva day.

Aussie Bonza Beaut

I got an email that said to please post more videos of hot women, so here's 2010 Sports Illustrated swimsuit super model Jessica Gomes, from Perth, Australia. She says she has "always had a passion for beauty". Well, we have that in common I guess.

Sister Sin is Outraged

Here's the first video from Sister Sin's latest CD, Sounds From The Underground, for the song "Outrage". Think of the video as an updated angry metal version of Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the Ceiling" video with more tats.

I'm not big on most female-fronted metal bands but this group from Gothenburg, Sweden is kicking quite a bit of butt from what I've heard. Their debut CD, Switchblade Serenades, is excellent and the new CD drops tomorrow (June 22nd). They'll be in Little Rock at The Rev Room in August according to their website. I'll be there.

Visit their official site for more.

Zakk Wylde Launching Black Label Berzerkus Tour This Fall

Billboard: Zakk Wylde Launching Black Label Berzerkus Tour This Fall

Zakk Wylde Launching Black Label Berzerkus Tour This Fall
June 16, 2010 - by Ray Waddell

Metal guitarist Zakk Wylde will launch the Black Label Berzerkus this fall, headlined by Wylde's Black Label Society. The two-month North American tour will feature Clutch, Children Of Bodom and 2Cents, with the first two bands sharing the main support slot.

AEG Live, Live Nation and independents will promote dates on the tour, which is booked by Tim Borror at the Agency Group. "This is my first run working with the Black Label Society team and, not that I didn't know it already, but once you get past scratching the surface you really see how vital this band is and what a huge icon Zakk is," says Borror, who expresses confidence in a lineup that boasts "big guitar player profile" in Wylde and COB's Alexi Laiho.

"This tour has more to offer than most, and I think we have a package that is going to wake people up to what BLS and the bands Zakk chose as support are capable of doing," Borror tells Billboard.biz. "This new BLS record is incredible, and with everything that is going on with this band right now, BLS will be at their height and rising at the end 2010 leading into 2011."

The tour begins Sept. 21 at Roseland in Portland, Ore., following Wylde's work on the Ozzfest and headlining BLS dates. Black Label Society's first new album in four years, "Order of the Black," will be released in North America on E1 Music on Aug. 10.

My Father's Eyes

Here's your Father's Day video from Eric Clapton's Pilgrim CD for the song "My Father's Eyes". The song is inspired by the fact that Clapton never met his father, who died in 1985. It also refers to the brief life of Clapton's son Conor, who died at age four after falling from an apartment window.

I hope all the dads, sons and daughters have a great Father's Day.
