Albert Pujol$ $uddenly $ucks?

Phat Albert bailed on my team for more money than the Cardinals were willing to offer this off-season, which is such a blessing in disguise. Sure, I think he'll rebound from his gawdawful start this season (maybe still hit 30 HR... 90+ RBI?), but I just don't think he'll still be producing at a high level past another few seasons and they're stuck with him for 10 years. Nice move Angels. Nice move.

In the meantime, for 1/10 of the money and only 2 years commitment, the Cards got a pretty good player. Let's compare with this small sample size of this season so far shall we?

Carlos Beltran - .279 - 7 HR - 18 RBI in 23 games (86 at-bats)
Albert Pujols - .208 - 0 HR - 5 RBI in 25 games (101 at-bats)

Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see who is getting the best of this so far. In fact, Carlos had 2 HR and 7 RBI LAST NIGHT ALONE. Which is 2 more HR and 2 more RBI than Albert and his wife combined this season.

Here's a great and comical bit from Jeff Passan at Yahoo! Sports worth a read:

Albert Pujols' homerless start warrants many observations: 240 to be exact
