Kisster Potato Head?

As far as merchandising goes, KISS is a band who jumped the shark quite possibly before Arthur Fonzarelli actually jumped the shark. There is nothing they won't stick their faces or logos on nowadays, from caskets to wine (yes, there is KISS wine). But in today's marketplace, every band that has an opportunity does the same thing. Zakk Wylde has a line of BBQ sauce for the love of all that is holy. I've seen AC/DC dry erase boards, Rob Zombie baby bibs and Slipknot tennis shoes. So just forget any complaints directed solely at KISS, maybe they started it but apparently it works.

So I'm not shocked when I see this on KissOnline.com over the weekend:

KISS Mr. Potato Heads are being released by licensee, Promotional Partners! The estimated release date is March 2009.

The top image is the color comp for the KISS Mr. Potato Heads, and the bottom images are the actual KISS Mr. Potato Heads "in development" prototypes.

Alright, stop the madness already.

Now it should also be noted that I will buy those if I see them. I love Mr. Potato Head. Don't judge me!

Speaking of my favorite old face-painted rockers, one of my 3 wonderful sisters saw these very cool pint glasses somewhere and picked them up for me. Brought a tear to my eye it's such a beautiful thing, especially when they've got some nice cold beer in them. Eat your hearts out:

  1. I do admit to watching Gene Simmons Family Jewels marathons. I love the man! His son is hilarious. I know you've watched it - right?

  2. I've caught only a few episodes. I think the kids were entertaining from what I saw but Gene is just such an arrogant jerk that I really couldn't make myself watch it often. I did enjoy when the kids or Shannon set him in his place though.

  3. I agree that KISS over does the merchandise thing, but sometimes they put out some cool stuff. Your example of the glasses are proof that they do some cool merch.

As for the KISS potatoe heads, I am buying it for my kids. No doubt about that!
