2009's Most Anticipated Films

I realize we're not even through the big holiday releases for 2008 yet, but MovieTickets.com recently ran a poll to find out the most anticipated movies of the coming year. The people have spoken, and here's what they had to say:

Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2009

1. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
2. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
3. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
4. Public Enemies
5. Angels & Demons
6. Night At The Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian
7. The Informant
8. Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs
9. The Day The Earth Stood Still
10. The Taking Of Pelham 123

While I am extremely excited for numbers 1, 2, 3... for me it loses a little steam after that. I think Angels & Demons (from the Dan Brown novel) should be good, the Night At The Museum sequel could be fun as should the new Ice Age film. The Day The Earth Stood Still has potential based on the trailer, although I'm not completely sold yet. After those I'm making a few changes.

Give me Benicio Del Toro's The Wolf Man for sure, as everything he touches is fantastic lately and I always loved the old Universal wolf man movies. Also it has Sir Anthony Hopkins, always a big plus.

I love comic book films and am currently reading the Watchmen graphic novel, so of course I'm really excited about the movie, especially after seeing the excellent looking trailer that debuted during the Scream Awards.

Peter Jackson's new film, The Lovely Bones, based on the book by Alice Sebold should be great as well as he's been about as dead-on as Del Toro in the last few years picking winners.

The horror fan in me is pretty excited about Underworld: Rise of the Lycans as well as the remakes of Friday the 13th and Hellraiser, despite the apparent hatred from a lot of horror fans of remakes.

Should be another great year at the theaters.
