Twilight Friday

Man, this Twilight madness is crazywackykookoo. It opens today, which technically began at midnight, and 1,100 theaters showing it at that hour were sold out reports say. The movie "only" cost $36 mil reportedly, and it might very well make that back in it's first day. I have to plead stupid here, I know nothing about this whole thing. I've looked into it recently and it looks sort of like The O.C. with vampires. I'm going to take a pass on the whole teen thing. Hey, I'm not saying I'm above that mind you, I mean I like the Harry Potter films (never read any of the books though) and they're made for the younger set. I'll probably just catch this on DVD to see what it's all about. For now though I'll keep watching True Blood on HBO for my (adult) vampire fix.

But if you're an adult and need an excuse to go see this teen/tween movie, here's a pretty good list of "Six Excuses Grown-Ups Can Use To Go See Twilight" I found.

Anywho... here's what hits today on the pre-holiday weekend:

Bolt

The Plot: Bolt (voice of John Travolta) is a celebrity dog and the star of a hit TV show where his amazing feats and powers draw big ratings. But when a mail-room mix-up finds him roaming free on the streets of New York City, the wonder dog will have to learn to rely on his actual strengths -- as well as his new friends, an abandoned housecat and a starry-eyed hamster -- in order to find his way back home to his owner and co-star, Penny (voice of Miley Cyrus).
My Thoughts: Looks like a pretty cute animated flick, and with Miley's star power I wouldn't be surprised if this opened pretty big as well. I'll rent it someday I'm sure.

Twilight

The Plot: In her new town of Forks, Washington, misfit teenager Bella falls for her alluring and mysterious classmate, Edward. As it turns out, Edward belongs to a lineage of vampires, although he doesn't fit the typical vampire mold. As their passion reaches dizzying heights, can Edward resist his natural urges, and will he be able to defend Bella from his family members who have come for her?
My Thoughts: Meh, I'll pass. You just know the entire theater is going to be full of teen girls with cell phones, and there's no way that can be enjoyable. Good luck seeing the big screen with all those little screens lit up too, no doubt texting something that can't possibly wait until the movie lets out. Like, whatever. LOL. *barf*
