Synopsis: Star race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his pal Mater (Larry The Cable Guy) head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
Did Mater get on your nerves in the first Cars movie? If he did, you better ignore this one cause it's The Mater Show. In Europe. With spies. Mater is a great character and all, but to me he's better in smaller does. He becomes sort a Jar-Jar Binks on wheels in this one. What did this need to prevent that? Well, better new characters and more Lightning McQueen would have helped.
But if you liked the first one you'll probably find this one very watchable as well. The story is pretty thin but visually it's as awesome as most Disney/Pixar movies. Most of these are aimed a bit more at adults than this one though, and I can't imagine anyone but kids really going wild over it.
It's not that it's bad, it's entertaining and great to look at, it's just really nothing that memorable and I expect Pixar to knock everything out of the park I guess. There's plenty of action to be found for sure, but I was just never engaged in the story. I find vehicles not as cute or exciting as furry creatures or whatever else Pixar has chosen to animate I guess.
6/10
